Every industry that generates wastewater has a legal and operational responsibility to treat it before discharge or reuse. An Effluent Treatment Plant is not just a compliance checkbox — it is a core part of your facility’s infrastructure that directly affects your regulatory standing, operational continuity, and water costs. At Weltreat Systems, we design, supply, and commission custom ETP systems for industries across Pune and Maharashtra — built around your actual wastewater, not generic templates.

What Is an Effluent Treatment Plant?

An Effluent Treatment Plant is an engineered system that treats wastewater generated from industrial processes. The goal is to remove suspended solids, dissolved contaminants, organic matter, chemicals, oils, and other impurities — so that your facility can either meet MPCB discharge standards or safely reuse treated water.

Every industry has a different wastewater profile. A pharmaceutical plant generates API-laden effluent with high COD and trace solvents. A textile unit generates high-colour, high-TDS effluent. A food processing plant generates high-BOD effluent with fats and oils. A chemical plant may carry heavy metals and toxic organic compounds. One standard design cannot handle all of these — which is why every Weltreat ETP begins with a detailed wastewater characterisation study before a single component is specified.

Our ETP Process — How We Design and Deliver

Step 1 — Free Site Evaluation and Wastewater Characterisation

We begin with a free visit to your facility. Our engineers collect effluent samples, analyse flow rates, and understand your production process. This gives us real data — not assumptions — to design your system around.

Step 2 — Engineering and System Design

Based on characterisation results, we design your ETP with the right treatment stages, equipment sizing, and automation level. You receive a clear design document with process flow diagram, equipment list, and performance guarantees.

Step 3 — Supply and Manufacturing

They source or fabricate all major equipment — tanks, pumps, blowers, dosing systems, filter press — to specification. We do not use off-the-shelf plant designs.

Step 4 — Civil Guidance and Installation

Our team coordinates civil work requirements and manages mechanical and electrical installation at your site.

Step 5 — Commissioning and Performance Testing

We commission the plant, stabilise the biological process, and verify treated effluent quality against your MPCB consent parameters before handover.

Step 6 — Training and Handover

Your plant operators are trained on daily operation, monitoring, and basic maintenance before we complete handover.

ETP Treatment Stages

Screening and Equalisation Raw effluent passes through bar and fine screens to remove large solids. An equalisation tank balances flow and composition variation before treatment begins — this protects downstream stages from shock loads.

Primary Treatment Physical processes — settling tanks and clarifiers — remove suspended solids through gravity separation. Chemical coagulation and flocculation are applied where needed to improve solids removal.

Secondary Biological Treatment Aerobic or anaerobic biological processes break down dissolved organic matter. We use MBBR (Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor), activated sludge process, or SBR depending on your effluent type and space constraints. This stage achieves the bulk of BOD and COD reduction.

Tertiary Treatment Sand filtration, activated carbon, or membrane polishing brings treated water to final discharge or reuse quality. For industries with ZLD requirements or high water reuse targets, RO is integrated at this stage.

Sludge Handling Sludge generated during treatment is thickened, dewatered using filter press or centrifuge, and disposed of through MPCB-authorised channels. Sludge management is part of every Weltreat ETP — not an afterthought.

Industries We Serve

Pharmaceutical and Formulation Plants Pharma effluent contains active pharmaceutical ingredients, solvents, and high-strength organic loads. Our team designs our pharma ETPs to meet MPCB Schedule I standards with options for ZLD integration where required. Read our complete guide to ETP for pharmaceutical industry in Pune.

Textile and Dyeing Units Textile effluent carries intense colour, high TDS, COD, and surfactants — some of the most complex wastewater in Indian industry. Our textile ETPs combine biological treatment with RO and ZLD stages for maximum colour removal and water recovery.

Food and Beverage Processing High-BOD effluent from food plants requires robust biological treatment with grease management upstream. Our food processing ETPs are designed for FSSAI and MPCB compliance simultaneously.

Chemical and Specialty Chemical Plants Variable, high-strength chemical effluent with potential heavy metal content requires specialised treatment chemistry. Our chemical ETPs are designed with detailed toxicity assessment and appropriate pre-treatment.

Automotive and Engineering Industries Oil-water separation, metal finishing effluent, and coolant-contaminated wastewater require specialised primary treatment before biological stages.

Real Estate and Commercial Complexes Where industrial and domestic wastewater streams are combined, we design integrated ETP-STP solutions to treat both streams to applicable standards.

Why Industries in Pune Choose Weltreat

We design for your effluent — not a generic profile Every Weltreat ETP is based on actual wastewater data from your facility. This eliminates the most common failure mode in Indian ETPs — plants designed on assumed parameters that never meet actual performance in operation.

Single-point responsibility from start to finish We own the entire project — characterisation, design, supply, installation, commissioning, and training. No gaps between equipment supplier and installation contractor. No blame-shifting when problems arise.

Direct MPCB experience Our team has direct experience with MPCB consent processes, inspection procedures, and compliance documentation across industries in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Chakan, Ranjangaon MIDC, and beyond.

Post-commissioning support We offer AMC and full O&M contracts to keep your ETP performing after handover. Most problems in industrial ETPs develop after commissioning — our support structure prevents them.

Pune-based team Fast response, site visits within 48 hours anywhere in Maharashtra. You are not dealing with a distant company that sends someone from Mumbai or Delhi.

ETP and ZLD Integration

For industries where MPCB mandates Zero Liquid Discharge, or where water recovery targets make ZLD economically justified, Weltreat designs ETP as the pre-treatment first stage of an integrated ETP-RO-MEE-ATFD ZLD system. This means you do not waste your ETP investment when you eventually move to ZLD — it becomes the foundation of your full water recovery system.

ETP Maintenance and AMC

A well-designed ETP that is poorly maintained will fail compliance within 12 to 24 months. Weltreat offers:

Annual Maintenance Contracts covering preventive visits, performance checks, and breakdown support
Full O&M services where our operators run your plant daily
Plant health audits for ETPs installed by other vendors
Spares supply and emergency breakdown response

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cost of an ETP in India?

ETP costs in India range from ₹15 lakh to ₹2 crore depending on capacity in KLD, treatment technology required, site conditions, and automation level. Weltreat provides a detailed project estimate after a free site evaluation and wastewater analysis — no cost, no obligation.

How long does ETP installation take?

A typical ETP installation takes 8 to 14 weeks from design finalisation to commissioning, depending on capacity and site readiness. Weltreat provides a detailed project schedule before any work begins.

Is an ETP mandatory for my industry?

Yes. Under the Environment Protection Act and Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, all industries generating effluent must install and operate an ETP as a condition of their MPCB Consent to Operate. Non-compliance can result in closure orders and heavy financial penalties.

Can an ETP treat my specific type of industrial wastewater?

An expert designs an ETP for your specific wastewater after characterisation. Weltreat has designed ETPs for pharmaceutical, textile, food and beverage, chemical, automotive, and other industries — each with different contaminant profiles, volumes, and regulatory requirements.

Can an ETP be integrated with a ZLD system?

Yes. We design our ETPs as the pre-treatment stage for ZLD systems. If your current or future compliance requirement includes ZLD, we integrate your ETP directly with RO and evaporation stages without redundant civil or equipment cost.

Do you provide AMC and O&M services for ETPs?

Yes. We offer AMC and full Operation and Maintenance contracts for ETPs across Pune and Maharashtra — including ETPs installed by other vendors, subject to an initial plant health audit.
